Suppose that the semantic web system was built to administer selling and buying
of the used cars over an Internet. A system would contain the two main applications:
One for the people who wanted to buy the car
One for the people who wanted to put up the car for sale
Let us call an Internet applications for the IBA (I Buy Application),
and the ISA(I Sell Application).
IBA - I Buy Application
People who want to buy the car could use the IBA application which would look
like this:
The I Buy Application (IBA)
In "real life" application you would have been asked to identify yourself first
time you used it. Your ID would be stored in the RDF file. Your ID would then identify
you as the person with the name, address, email, and the social security number.
When you submitted the query, the application would return a list of cars which are
for sale, and this list could be drilled down and sorted by the year, price, location and
the availability. This information would be returned from the web spider continuously
searching a web for the RDF files.
ISA - I Sell Application
People those who want to sell the car could use the ISA application similar to
the one shown below:
I Sell Application (ISA)
When we submitted a form, the application would ask us for more information
and store the ID and information in the RDF file made available to a web.
An RDF file would contain the information like:
ID: Name, address, email, security number.
Selling Item: type, model, picture, price, description.
