WHY IS IPC NOT RECOMMENDED AS A PRE AP COURSE?
While Pre-AP designation is a local option, it is not suggested for the IPC course. In science, the one-credit IPC course is an entry level applied course which introduces the basic concepts in physics and chemistry. Students will receive a more thorough grounding in chemistry and physics by taking the Chemistry and Physics courses which provide greater depth and are more appropriate for Pre AP designation. There is no separate pre-AP PEIMS numbers for this course. Districts may add an honors designation or other local designation to meet their needs. The State Board of Education recommends that students on the Recommended High School Program take the Biology, Chemistry, and Physics sequence.
