Eight Signs The Job is Doomed

Have you been feeling uneasy at the work lately? Is your sixth sense telling that there is some impending doom related to the job? Are your colleagues avoiding you or are whispering when you do walk by? Follow the instincts and watch for the eight signs to find out if the days at work are numbered.

1. You are not being kept informed.
Have you seen the whole team walking out of a conference room after the meeting which you were not informed of? Have you become a last to know anything and everything that is going on in the office? In workplace, the knowledge is a power. The company’s act of keeping the information from you and keeping you in the darkness may be one of the way of preparing for the life without you.

2. You are losing the responsibilities.
Has your workload become lot lighter in recent weeks while all your colleagues seem to be taking on more? Is your input is suddenly not needed for planning the sessions for the next year’s budget? If your projects and the past responsibilities have been passed on to others, it is an another good sign that the team is making sure that your work gets done once you are out a door.

3. Has your job title has been changed, and it is not a upward move.
If you have received the new job title or the new job description, pay attention to the differences. Is new job a lateral move? Have you been demoted? The way you do want to be moving in the organisation is up – not on the sideways or down.

4. Times are tough at the company.
Have you noticed the several closed-door meetings full of executives with the concerned faces? Are HR managers and Head of Payroll and working all the night some nights? Is your company has experiencing the mounting losses or declining the profits? Has the recruitment been suspended? Many companies first the money-saving measure in the difficult times is the personnel cut. If the job function is not essential, you may be one of the first for a chop.

5. You are suddenly being supervised by very closely.
If you always had a great deal of the autonomy in the past and are now being scrutinised at the every turn, there may be the serious reason behind this new form of the management. Whether you feel you need the hand held or not, new scrutiny in a workplace can sometimes mean less confidence in the abilities.

6. You have received one or more of the negative reviews.
Good companies do try to help the employees recognise and understand the ways in which they need to improve. Most of them have some kind of review system in the place to help the employees do track their progress. If you have received the performance review which is negative, you do need to take it to the heart and make some changes. If you have the multiple bad reviews under the belt and still have not learned from them, your days are probably numbered. Just as bad, if you have had the stellar reviews in past and suddenly you are no longer regarded as the star performer, watch out!

7. Company is "reorganising"
The Mergers, acquisitions and restructuring can all be good for the business, but bad for the employees. Are there rumours about the other company buying your business? Is your company merging with the other company that has the employees who do the same job as you? Pay attention to what you do hear in the grapevine regarding future of a business it can also have the dramatic effect on the future.

8. You just have not been performing.
When it comes down to the brass tacks, you know the performance better than anyone. You know that you have been surfing from the Internet when you should be finishing the reports; that you have spent hours making the personal calls; and your one hour-lunches have grown increasingly longer. If your heart has not just been in your job lately, your superiors probably might have taken notice. Think about it – if you were a boss, would you fire you? If so, then you might want to start making the plans for the exit strategy.
