The Project based working involves efforts of the group of people who are dedicated for
achieving the specific goal. A series of the factors will contribute to success of a
project:
A D V E R T I S E M E N T
An appointment of the project leaders at all the levels who are committed to a project
and are respected by a team.
A the shared belief in what the team is trying to achieve and the constant focus on
goals.
willingness to negotiate with the people outside the team for the sake of benefit for
the project.
A single and most important factor in determining of the success of a team is constant
referral to the question saying "What we are actually trying to achieve?" It is all
very easy for the project teams to lose the sight of overall aim of a project.
The 3 Main Roles?
There exists three major project management roles: A project manager, A sub-project
manager and the task leader. Appointment of any or all these positions must be
made entirely with the reference to needs of a project. In a smallest of the projects
both roles and the responsibilities of all three of these roles should be undertaken by
the single project manager.
Though the three roles can be combined within one individual, demands that are
placed on this individual might not still justify the full-time position. At other
extreme some of the projects could be enormous in the scope, complexity and the duration.
Building up of a Channel Tunnel, as one of the civil engineering largest projects in the
history, involved the scores of the project management staff, covering all the three
roles outlined.
A Channel Tunnel will results were by no means the typical of such large scale and the
complex projects. Despite of bringing of the best engineers together, designers and the
project management experts available a project did suffer from the significant delays
and the significant overspend.
Inescapable conclusion is that, maximize the number of opportunities for the success,
the projects and the corresponding management structures, must be run by the staff who
have gained the experience in projects of the similar size and the nature.
