After you create a data connection, InfoPath produces a form with a
basic layout and a few controls. Take the next steps by adding all
the controls users will need and applying formatting.
Most vital, add controls to the main areas of the form so that
you can query for data, see data that's returned, and type new data.
Then, add text and labels you think will help users: for example,
a short paragraph at the top to explain how the form works; and
headings, such as "Query" and "Data Entry," to make the form
sections clear.
A border color to highlight a section, and shading to call out a
section within it, work well, too.
The picture gives an example of the form in a more finished
state.
