Palghar is a city and a Municipal Council in Thane district in the Indian state of Maharashtra. Palghar is located at 19�′N 72�′E / 19.68, 72.75. Situated about 87 kilometres from Mumbai, it is a part of the Mumbai Suburban Rail network which extends up to Dahanu and lies on the Mumbai- Ahmedabad rail route. Palghar is the next major junction after Virar on the Western Railway and is also accessible by the Mumbai-Ahmedabad National Highway (NH 8).
